General Questions

All operating instructions for our clocks and for downloading can be found on the respective product page under the operating instructions tab directly next to the product description.

Keep your watch away from the direct influence of strong magnetic fields. In general, the function of your watch is not affected by the magnetic fields of household appliances, television sets or stereo equipment.

Avoid high temperatures Do not leave your watch in direct sunlight or in very warm or cold places for a long time. This may cause significant rate differences and condensation.
Avoid strong impacts This watch withstands normal impacts that occur during play or sporting activities. Avoid dropping your watch on the floor or otherwise subjecting it to excessive shocks. In particular, avoid impacts to the crown.
Avoid strong magnetic fields Keep your watch away from the direct influence of strong magnetic fields. In general, the magnetic fields of household appliances, televisions or stereo equipment will not affect the operation of your watch.
Avoid chemicals, solvents and gases Do not wear your watch while using strong chemicals, solvents or harmful gases. If your watch comes into contact with these, deterioration or damage to the case or its seals, the strap or other components of the watch may occur.
Keep your watch clean Rub off any trace of water or moisture on the case, glass or bracelet with a soft, clean cloth. Any dirt on the case or bracelet could cause a skin rash. A watch strap becomes dirty due to the build-up of sweat and dust. A stainless steel or gold-plated bracelet may corrode if left uncleaned for a long time. Do not operate any controls under water.
Periodic inspection To keep the watch in trouble-free working order for many years, we recommend that you have the watch checked every 3 years, as well as an annual water-resistance check at one of our concessionaires and the replacement of all sealing elements when the battery is changed.

Watch Materials & Features

Sapphire glass is the hardest of all watch glasses. A high degree of light refraction means that the dial always appears in bright light and thus significantly improves readability. Sapphire glass is also extremely scratch-resistant. All sapphire glasses are anti-reflective on the inside.

We only use stainless steel and here the high-quality and skin-friendly surgical steel (316L). It is characterised by its hardness, high wearing comfort and low nickel content.

Despite qualified manufacture and testing, a rate deviation of approx. 20 seconds a day can occur. This is a characteristic of even the best mechanical watches and is normal for a living movement. The models are regulated so that they advance easily. Please note that automatic watches are not absolutely accurate and can stop if they are not moved enough during the day! If this should be the case, you can also wind the watch manually via the crown (clockwise, approx. 30 revolutions = fully wound).

The fully wound automatic watch achieves a power reserve of up to 38 hours after taking it off. Please note that automatic watches are not absolutely accurate and can stop if they are not moved enough during the day. If this should be the case, you could also wind the watch manually via the crown (clockwise, approx. 30 turns = fully wound).

In the watches of the Bruno Söhnle automatic collection, a movement is at work for which five basic components are manufactured in Glashütte and surfaces are machined and refined by our watch atelier. Three hands and the date display are mechanically driven. In Bruno Söhnle's workshops in Glashütte, the main plate, automatic bridge, gear train bridge, winding bridge and balance cock are bead-finished and the surface is treated with various electroplatings (yellow/pink gold/nickel or rhodium-plated). The rotor is an in-house development by Bruno Söhnle and is also manufactured in Glashütte. The manufacturer and place of manufacture are laser-engraved on the top of the rotor, which is clearly visible through the glass back of the watch. Each watch is marked with its own identity number.

Leather strap

If you regularly wipe off residues of skin sweat, tapes will have a much longer life. Only tapes that are explicitly designated as waterproof can be cleaned under running water. Avoid contact with moisture, detergents and chemicals such as creams and perfumes. Do not wear your watch at night, in the sauna, during sports or extreme manual work.

We stock ribbons in normal length. Some bands are also available in XS or XL length. Please contact one of our concessionaires to check whether this also applies to your model. You can find addresses in your area under the menu item Specialized Retailer.

A completely new upper material made of South African kudu antelope is the special innovation of this year.

The leather of the "Kudu" has a special density and soft surface. The material-specific greasy feel, which is created by waxing the surface, distinguishes the material just as much as the characteristic grain, which varies from hide to hide and thus makes each individual bracelet unique.

Leather straps with kudu upper leather are a real eye-catcher and truly unique in their design.

Material upper leather:

  • Deeply barrel-dyed South African kudu antelope with a waxed, semi-matt surface and velvety-soft feel.
  • Characteristic grain for unadulterated individuality.
  • Each band is unique.

Underleather material:

  • Rubber Nubuck Genuine, soft calfskin with a semi-matt structure by applying a coating. This coating gives us the look and comfortable feel of rubber while using genuine leather.

Special features:

  • Each bracelet is unique in colour and grain.
  • Each bracelet has a natural pull-up effect and develops an attractive and individual patina.
  • Discolouration and staining may occur.

The leather strap of a watch is basically a wearing part and, as a natural product, particularly vulnerable. Moisture, perspiration and chemicals in particular can cause discolouration. Do not wear your watch in the sauna. Keep all creams and perfumes away from the watch; there could be unwanted chemical reactions. Do not wear your watch at night either, because of the increased perspiration, unwanted chemical reactions may also occur. If you regularly wipe off residues of skin sweat, especially after sport, the straps and seals of the case will last much longer. Leather straps are particularly unsuitable for sports and more extreme manual activities that place a great deal of mechanical stress on the leather. A leather strap should never come into contact with moisture. Only straps that are expressly designated as water-resistant can be cleaned under running water. Avoid cleaning agents!

Watertightness

The bar indication is engraved on the case back.
General information on the water resistance of your watch according to DIN 8310:
Water resistance is not a permanent property. It should be checked annually and also before special loads, as the built-in sealing elements are subject to a natural ageing process and thus deteriorate in their function and in everyday use. External influences can affect water resistance. The pressure indication on your watch reflects the test pressure and must not be misunderstood as an indication of the possible diving depth.
Water resistance up to 3 bar: These Bruno Söhnle watches have been tested up to the specified atmospheric pressure of 3 bar and are protected against superficial contact with water. Immersion in water should be avoided. Heavy perspiration can also affect the water resistance.
Water resistance up to 5 bar: These Bruno Söhnle watches have been tested up to the specified atmospheric pressure of 5 bar. The glass and seal withstand this pressure. To ensure lasting water resistance, have your watch checked annually as part of an inspection.
Water resistance up to 10 bar: These Bruno Söhnle watches have been tested to the specified atmospheric pressure of 10 bar and are the ideal partner for all water sports, except diving.
In case of intensive use or heavy perspiration, it is very important to carry out an annual inspection.
Water resistance up to 20 bar: These watches are tested to the specified atmospheric pressure of 20 bar and are the ideal partner for all water sports, thanks to the thickness of the glass and the seals. In case of intensive use or heavy perspiration, it is very important to carry out an annual check to ensure lasting water resistance. Also have a check after each battery change to ensure that all elements that contribute to water resistance are still in good condition.

Moisture, such as sweat, care products, etc., can dry out the leather and also make it brittle. A leather strap is a wearing part and it is recommended to change the strap about every 1-1.5 years with regular use, as bacteria can also accumulate in and on the strap. Please contact one of our concessionaires to order a replacement strap. You can find addresses in your area under the menu item Find a specialist dealer.
